Castle Eaton

A small Wiltshire village located between Swindon and Cirencester, Castle Eaton is home to the Red Lion, reputed to be the first pub on the River Thames.

Quiet for most of the year, the summer months see an increase in activity as the Royal International Air Tattoo takes place at nearby RAF Fairford in July.

Occasionally walkers can be seen making their way along the Thames Path that winds between the nearby towns of Cricklade and Lechlade.

Recycling Lorry

Castle Eaton Recycling Page

Waste and Recycling Collection in Castle Eaton always takes place on a Friday.

And if you're wondering why we should bother to recycle, here are a few thoughts from one our residents, who wanted to share the following information...

"I thought you might be interested in a few figures.

Sometimes I grumble about just what a nuisance recycling can be and do wonder whether it saves more energy than the production of virgin materials - so I decided to find out. And lo!

I know that, more often, the process of recycling uses less energy in total compared to the many processes required to produce 'virgin materials'. But the great benefit comes in terms of reduced greenhouse gas emissions - recycling paper and card saves the equivalent of about 500kg of CO2 per tonne recycled; recycling aluminium saves about 11,634kg of CO2 per toone recycled; glass saves about 760 per tonne recycled.

So when I am taking out the recycling boxes in the rain and cold on Thursday evenings, I will still grumble, but think about why I am doing it with a little more comprehension."

Empty Printer Ink and Toner Cartridges

You can also return your old cartridges to Village Internet and we will make sure they're safely and ethically recycled. Not only that but we will be making a donation to help the Samaritan's fund raising effort in Swindon, if any of those cartridges should have a value.
